| Dominical is located 25km (18 miles) SW of San Isidro de El General; 42km (26 miles) S of Quepos, 160km (99 miles) S of San Jose. Dominical is most well known to surfers, but is quickly becoming a popular site for more than the surfers and backpackers as there is abundant wildlife, waterfalls, beautiful beaches and desirable property ripe for the picking. And picking they are as European and U.S. citizens looking for property are increasingly the norm in the region. South from Quepos the landscape is dotted with oil palm plantations and once crossing the River Baru you have made it to Dominical village property. The most direct route from San Jose is on the Musoc bus to San Isidro and then on through the mountains to Dominical and then on to other beaches such as Dominicalito, Playa Hermosa, and Ballena Marine National Park.
The San Clemente Bar in Dominical is the center of commerce with the community's one Internet cafe upstairs, Escape moped and bicycle rentals, post office and Ben Vaughn's CRHorizons Realty office all right there. The San Clemente Bar is a well-known surfer hangout that caters to everyone with meals from breakfast through lunch and dinners. Be sure to check out the autographed, broken surfboards hung in the ceiling in exchange for a pitcher of beer.
